yeah, I suppose but I took everything out to inspect each piece of rubber for cracks as I am going to fix the gas smell. I am also re-installing the 70amp alt, so its easier to do that with the engine out.

Finally got the rubber Fuel neck from Busdepot after a shipping fiasco, yep its got German Part numbers on it. Found out why the smell got into the main cabin so easy as the PO had drilled two giant 2 1/2" holes to access the rubber fuel neck and duct taped them to seal them. Yeah, that really seals well since the tape was all dried out and all. So a little splash of gas thru the cracked neck and Whew! stinky gas smell to give me a headache.
Onwards and forward with a new metal plate with sealant to cover the holes and install the fuel neck, tank, pipe and put the engine back in after a beer.

The fix

Took the Westy out for a drive and no smell!!!
I also checked the valves and still no need for adjusting as they were all at .006. This is after about 15,000 miles on the rebuild.

At least the guy who cut holes in mine left flaps of steel to bend back in place. Good job on the repair & patch! :thumbleft:
