So, I've managed to go through three window cranks on the driver's side window in the four years I've owned the bus. The original plus two I scored off of junkers at the P-n-P. Based on the general lack of Bays in the P-n-P these days, the lack of quality aftermarket parts and using the power of the interweb, I've discovered that mid 80s Jetta cranks will fit. So I took my bi-monthly lunch trip to the yard and pulled four window cranks from Jetta hulks. They fit and seem to be far more robust. Now the massive strength of my index finger and thumb have met their match! (I hope)
Just an FYI for any who GAS. Photos to follow.

Early 80s Jetta cranks are built the best. Still metal.
Vanagons too.
I scored a set of brown ones with chrome rings if anyone needs a couple. Klassy.

Yeah, no metal on the four I scored from the mid-80s. Still, they are more robust at the knob than the ones I've found on junked Bays. Even Vanagons seem to be drying up at the Windsor P-n-P. I always look for early ones in hopes of scoring another t-stat.hambone wrote:Early 80s Jetta cranks are built the best. Still metal.
