$17.00 each? Fahgitit.
My Squareback had $23.95/pair MidAmerica seals that cracked and splintered just sitting in the garage. . . . I paid $123.00 for the real German door seals and they fit and keep out the elements, whoa.
There will come the day that you cannot get the good seals.

WCM is a good brand though. I wonder if they'd sell krap?
Any recommended vendors for good door seals?

German bus depot seals were real nice. Got them about three years ago so I'm not sure if they are using crap seals now and calling them German. Buyer beware ya know.

Hiya Bob,

Indeed, they would........and have. I bought door seals from WCM a few years back. Did the installation and the doors wouldn't close on their own. The seals were too thick and they were poorly made to boot. I was bummed out because WCM was supposed to have a very good reputation rubber-wise.

So, I did a little checking around. I wound up talking to Ron Salmon (who just happens to be a WCM dealer) and he gave me a bit of an education in seals and market dynamics. It went something like this........WCM made most of its reputation when it was the only game in town with respect to rubber products. Much of their good reputation was well deserved. They had some parts made to spec for resale when they could not locate originals still being produced. However, (and this is where the problem arises) WCM also turned to importing some rubber products. Their doorseals are after markets products from Brazil. Cheap, but very bad news quality wise.

Ron advised either going with OEM German (very spendy but they do have the little corner mouldings and fit like a glove) or going with doorseals from VWBrasil. These doorseals were cheaper that German OEM, didn't have the little corner mouldings, but were an excellent fit. I went with the VWBrasil seals. They did fit excellently - great door action - good seal - everything Ron said they'd be.

I'd still use WCM for small stuff but I'd really stay away from them interms of doorseals. Learned that lesson!

I bought a rear window seal for my convertible bug from CIP (I know, it was before I knew better). When it arrived, I opened the box and there was a WCM label on it. A couple of years later (I know, some projects take awhile to "get around to"), I went to put it in and it didn't fit. Too big. Now if you go back to the listing on CIP it says right on it that they run big and will "fit tight". No, they actually don't fit at all.

I've since ordered what is supposed to be a German seal from OEVeeDub (even though I swore I'd never order from them again). It's back in the "I need to get around to this pile" which I'll get to right after I put the transmission back in my wife's bus.

I really hope it works. :pale:
