"New" hub caps are ALREADY rusting?????

Post by Mr Blotto » Mon Jan 29, 2007 10:33 am

I bought new replacement hubcaps about 1 year ago from BD or Cip1 (can't remember). Now I realize that I live in the rust belt, but I just noticed some rust on them. What the hell??

Any better replacements out there?? I am sure that the original VW caps survived much better - I kind of wish I had my original dented ones back...

Only German will not rust. You can wax em' that seems to help for a bit.

You can also take a steel wool to th' rust and then shoot em' with a coat of clear spray paint.
Not just a Midwest thing, it happened to me on my bus here in rain-town. My Chicago beetles with German caps never rusted, even in th' salt.

Get some decent ones, the flat caps are pretty plentiful out there. I gave my friend Eric a stack of em' too, I'm sure he can spare a couple.
