Size of Westy top bunk plywood.

Post by Jivermo » Mon Oct 07, 2013 4:33 am

The sliding board for the top roof bunk in my '78 Westy seems to be too small. It fell down with my granddaughter on it, and she was quite displeased with me, and the bus. Would someone please measure one that they know to be original-length, width and thickness-so that I can duplicate one?

By sliding board do you mean the section that folds over the rear section when the top is down?
Chorizo, it's what's for breakfast.

Maybe this is where my problem is. In my bus, there is a piece of 3/4" plywood under the cushion towards the rear of the bus. When you lift the top up, you can pull that piece forward, and then bring the second cushion up to cover the board. That action makes the bed complete. However, it must not be right, as evidenced by its collapse with my granddaughter. There is nothing in my bus that "folds over", so to speak. Is there any diagram of how this bed system is supposed to operate? It did not occur to me to show this thing to Colin when he was down here. Dang!

Here's a YouTube link showing a '79 upper bed being set out:
