Slow wipers

Post by yondermtn » Wed Dec 29, 2010 7:23 am

What causes windshield wipers to be slow on cold mornings?

My bus has this problem even in the summer, but now my 2000 Jeep is suffering too, but only when temps are in the teens or lower. The wipers take a second to start moving and then move slowly for a few swipes before operating at normal speeds.

crusty dried out lubricant. Mine work better as the defroster heats up under the dash. They work best in rain once the rain has worked its way into the shafts and lubricates it.

I have this problem too. Do you mean the lubricant in the motor, or on the arm hinges/hardwear? Any particular place to put lube?

pivot points, and the shafts. Seals would help on the shafts, I usually just put the straw on the PB Blaster and aim in the general direction of the pivots under the dash. Colin would be a better responder to this question.
