So far no stalling, and the dash lights light up when they're supposed to. Time will tell but I'm pretty sure it was the switch.
Nothing like fixing the same thing twice with different parts. I am now a PRO at Beetle ignition switch replacement! :joker:

Yeah the "bookend" model years are always a b*tch for certain parts. Our 67 has all kinds of one year only parts. PITA!!!! But endearing all the same :geek:

So far it looks good, hasn't stalled yet. I think that did it.

So should I save the $60 NOS tumbler/key for use in the Bus (assuming it will fit) or should I send it back for a refund?

Keep it only if it will fit in the bus, otherwise, send it back. It always seems that the best way to prevent a part from ever wearing out it to have a spare on hand. It's the one you don't have a replacement for that acts up.
