$Plunking down for a decent adult's VOM with some ammeter ability (Fluke) has been bumped to number two position.

Number one idea is to stop by Autozone and have them wheel their diagnostic cart out.

I have no AZone habit. But someone here does. What can I.expect Colin from their diagnostic "services"?

Wholly dependent upon the individual you happen to get. On a good day, you can get helpful information.
On a bad day, if you are a neophyte in the ways of alternator testing, etc, you can be sent down the garden path of futility.

What exactly do you want tested? System discharge? Alternator output? Battery health?

Ask a fool, and foolish answers of what a fool thinks shall follow.

I wonder about the alternator output.

Not sure if that is the best place to put my wonder.
System discharge. If they have a test?
Battery health..it seems to respond trickle charges. I think the problem comes from upstream. But if they can put a number on actual cca/ca ok..

Though a diagnostic for alternator would be my interest. If it is a worthy test...what say YE?

Note that we have lost a couple of days of posts . . . but amazingly, we are wiser nonetheless.
