Points question

Hi guys, Long time reader, first time poster. I have a '68 Beetle. Bought it a few years ago barely running and parked it in the garage. Just got my act together and started in on it. Im at the point where I want to see the condition of the engine so I figured Id start with a tune up (points, cap, rotor, oil change, plugs, wires, fuel lines, fuel filter (moved above transmission), new vac line from carb to dist. Well, I was moving along with things and got to the distributor to replace the points.

By the way motor in it B 464 003 (from a '70?) and this distributor 0 231 137 039 (205AA).

Using this http://www.oldvolkshome.com/ignition.htm#A1968M: I figured Id need 01 013 for points replacement. Well, I pulled the old points, and there is a problem, the old points slid over a shaft in the dist. the new points have a shaft as part of the points bracket?? I will admit I am a novice so if Im just looking at something wrong let me know. I need some advice, I want to button this back up and start getting an idea of engine condition before I move on. What are the correct points, do i need to get a new distributor plate assembly (from where?), Am I just doing something wrong?

Here are some pics:

Ask Glenn over on theSamba for a Points Replacement Plate Assy: VW 111-905-227B, Bosch 1237 110 139, and verify that it uses the lug rather than the post. It is an easy swap-out and a good opportunity to lubricate the advance pivot.

Glenn doesn't deal with aluminum distributors but he suggested an 01 009. I looked at a few suppliers and it looks like it should do it. I'll have to order one and see how it fits. I'll post back when I get it in.

There are no points available of the original design? I'd try taking the old points in to try to match.
