Animated Engine Innards
Hiya All,
I recently ran across these small gifs and I thought they might be of use to some who were trying to visualize the insides of the VW engine in movement. Take a look................

I don't have a clue, but I sure could sit and watch that crank go round and round for hours - kinda hypnotizing. I guess that means it is official, I'm a vw nerd. Thanks BOOKWUS.Amskeptic wrote:Those are excellent.
Quiz question:

That is really cool, hypnotic to watch. Amazing to see it like that, the mechanical flow that someone dreamed up. Horizontal power transferred to rotary.
I don't know which lobe. It opens up the exhaust valves though.
Mechanical failure, 1/2 the engine is missing, including the belt. Is the fan spinning backwards? Man it's messing with my head. And what's that aardvark doing in the bottom of the case? Crazy man.

Hammie's right! exhaust lobe is shown - it's fairly easy to discern the compression stroke, followed by ignition spark, then the exhaust valve closest to the viewer opens and the piston travels back to TDC pushing exhaust gasses out of the cylinder.Amskeptic wrote:Quiz question:

no clue on the pending failure!
ditto on the great gifs - thanks Bookwus!
