I lightly cross-sanded the flywheel, including where the main seal rides with 220 paper. But Hal almost pooped himself when I told him. Did I ruin my flywheel? I thought that area needed "tooth" for oil to stay...
What should I do?

Re: Flywheel Prep?
Colin had me cross-thatch mine. It might have been a finer grit. If I recall, he wanted to remove any glazing.hambone wrote:I lightly cross-sanded the flywheel, including where the main seal rides with 220 paper. But Hal almost pooped himself when I told him. I am more concerned with the area where the main seal rides. Well I'm sure the shop can re-polish if necessary.

Hiya Bob,
Yeah, Colin was big with me on redoing the flywheel surface with 220 grit. Gotta hit it at 45*. And the mainseal mating surface? I seem to recall that sanding here was OK too as long as the sanding helped direct the oil back toward the case.
Colin? Did I get that right?
