I went up front. I pumped the accelerator pedal twice. I cranked the engine with no accelerator and...nothing. No firing whatsoever.
Make the fuel pump run with a jumper wire between 30 and 87 on the relay for about 15 seconds.

Although you likely found the culprit with that wire, you still need to fill the carburetor float bowls before attempting to start the engine.

Did we verify the agreement for consultation phone call time, or did you expect me to call at the time I mentioned?

Distracted while working by an insane person explaining at length about how the library is haunted and how she's been locked in her Acura three times now, I didn't prime the carbs yesterday evening. This morning I primed them and it fired up well and consistently over many restarts. I'm afraid to jinx it by saying "it's fixed", so I'll just say "it's running well for now". Very Buddhist.

Thanks all for the help and encouragement. Colin, I was expecting the call at the time mentioned, but figured you had something come up. No big deal.

You may have answered your question. Condensers store energy if bad they will not hold the energy long enough to run.

May have, but didn't.
I suspected the points (rather, its gap) and condenser at first because when problems arise soon after new parts go in, I tend to blame the new parts. The gap being good, I suspected the new condenser because we spliced part of its wire (my fault). But indications led to fuel supply. Namely, why would it often start and run well after sitting all night, then just up and die? Because it was getting enough fuel trickling past the pump to usually fill the carb bowls (right?). I had checked most of the connections but not all. Once I saw the hot-to-fuel-pump-relay-wire was broken, I knew that was the culprit. And it was.
So while bad condensers may be to blame in some cases of non- or poor-running, this wasn't one of them.

No, not this time, this time it was the idiot who wired your fuel pump.
