Push rod tube seals

Post by JereandJess » Sat Nov 18, 2006 12:56 pm

I have a bag of the green o-rings for the pushrod tubes that came in a box of bus stuff that I inherited somewhere along the line.

Are these the vitron ones that are supposed to be the best out there?

Lots of leaking from the 77, so I figure even if they are not the vitron, the will be better than what's in there!

If they are the vitron, I can cross it off my to do list in the future!

Vitons are brown and resistant to hardening under high temps.
Greens are so-so, and I have seen them sold as "Viton"
They are so easy to replace, I don't even care what I put in.

Any idea what comes with the Elring German engine seal kit? I guess I'll know soon enuff.
Got a kit from Halsey with an impressive German name on the box. All the internal bags say "BRAZIL". And the parts don't seem to be very good quality, so I ordered a German kit online. No sense cheaping out on inexpensive critical parts.

The last two gasket sets packaged by Elring I got had green for the big end and red for the small end.
