how have you dealt with the peened in tabs on early bay rear brake star adjusters when they break?

Good question. I haven't yet. Seems like I have at least one broken one.

Some have repaired them with a little screw drilled into the anchor block if the spring steel is still present.
You can replace the whole backing plate, since it seems to still be available.

the idea of screwing a 6-32 bolt through the adjuster block got 6.32 minutes of time. then i bought my first ever tubes of jb weld. big vice grips and small piece of usps cardboard as a dressing so the wrench didn't stick to the new widget of found banding metal. i gave the "weld" 24 hours. backing plates make the all-star pick-up list. next time you overnight, neal, we can get this done.
