5 HP for $2

Post by hambone » Mon Mar 19, 2007 8:18 am

I'm being colorful but wanted to pass this on. Back when I first started driving $1 Oldsmobiles I did everything I could to get em' to run right.
I noticed that meticulously cleaning the carb with a good spray cleaner while the engine is running dramatically increased performance etc.
Once a year I try to spray out the carb reall good with a quality carb cleaner (Gumout is good). Did it a week ago and took my first long drive yesterday. Major difference - smoother idle, more power. It's truly amazing what a difference it makes.
My ten cents to you.

Every once in a while I have a little problem with my dual Weber 44 IDF's, even with CB's jet doctors installed. A shot of carburetor cleaner into the jet doctors, main and air stacks, usually brings the engine back to life without having to tear things apart. Ainokea
