Ewwwww, elecTRONics on a VW bus, no wonder this engine is trying to shake it off.

First of all, I'd like to thank you all for your interest and input in Pearl and her adventures!

As Ian alluded, we had quite a ride from Estero to Sarasota. Pearl was really dragging, and I didn't want to push her too hard, at this point 35 was my top speed, and at times she would only do 25, she was running so hot on my DD. So we got just within AAA's 100 mile towing limit of Sunshine Auto, and called for a tow. Two hours later, after him arguing with the AAA dispatcher who was trying to help him find us, the truck shows up, with the driver drunk.
I actually chained her to the wrecker while the driver held the flashlight for me, and halfway up the interstate, after the driver couldn't keep his rig on the road, or his eyes open, I offered to drive the rest of the way. He obliged, so I did!
I'd never driven anything with air brakes, don't have my CDL or anything. But I got us there safe.

First time I had Pearl up to 70mph!

That's right Colin, they said the timing was retarded.

Dayam, good for you with your perserverence!
I would have likely told that guy to take a hike.
You offered to drive!

Fill us in, Jivermo, you have been in touch with Keith and and and and (what is her name?).

Pearl has a new engine from Tucson on out west, that much I know. Here is a picture of those New Jersey transplants taking in Joshua Tree in sunny southern California:
