Got a reply back from Wolfburg West.
Which was nice for a Saturday. They have never heard of this happening. He is going to ask the guys on Monday whats up.
In the mean time I plan on taking it back out today and looking closely at the reservoir.

I inspected it once already but who knows maybe I missed something.

Well it seems four times a charm. The nipple finally broke on the reservoir. So I cannot even test it.LOL
This is turning in to one big chemical mess on the street and a test of my love and patience. :shaking:

The only place I found that carries the german replacement is bughaus in Ok.
So I ordered it hopefully my plea for overnight shipping will get me the new reservoir before my big trip or it looks like I will be driving my obnoxious dodge truck to Eugene.

:-)

Thou Shalt Not Drive A Dodge To Eugene.
Lubricate grommets and reservoir with brake fluid before pressing home (an Itinerant tip).
The clear plastic tube comes from the factory with rubber sleeves that must be present. Now that you have switched to automatic transmission hose, it is not an issue.

Okay so bughaus sent the part. Amazingly fast!!! They have the grommets that go on the OG clear tube so when I get back I might just put that back on. But so far no leaks!!!! so excited.
Test drove to Arcata and back last night.

Got her up to 80 MPG on the freeway.
down shifted in to third at 60

Temp gauge stayed steady at 418-420 at 80.

I don't usually driver her that fast but I wanted to see if she had her guts back. I am so happppppy!!!

SO the whole time it was a vacuum leak.

NOW that being said.

I see lots of folks install Tachometers. Would it be more adventageous to install a vacuum gauge? Seems like that is way more detrimental to the health and safety of the car.

Currently I have Temp and Oil pressure.

Driving the Oil is around 47-51 and at idle its around 19-22.

Thank you Colin and Chris for your help! The whole time it must have been the reservoir leaking because now its all buttoned up.

I feel okay driving to Eugene. I am going to go scramble to get the bus cleaned up and packed.

Off to Roller Derby it up in Eugene.

See you in a couple months Colin :bounce:

Don't do that downshift thing at such a high speed . . . :blackeye:

Try to only allow transient hits of above 400. Steady above 400 softens aluminum which then allows the valve seats to recede. But hey, one or two spirited Let Er Rips, we're good.

Nah. CHTs/oil temp are good. Tach is fun, helpful.
