On the road again

. . . from Atlanta to upstate New York with a BMW on a sad set of Blizzaks. Even at 26 psi, the treads are wearing out at the center due to chronic 75 mph +.

I am bringing my German Supply crankcase/pistons/flywheel, Sean Gallagher crankshaft/connecting rods/fan, VDubTech pressure plate, to the machinist for balancing and blueprinting. What I am doing is asking for a mandatory undersize cut of the crankshaft to specifically match the bearings already installed and torqued in the case and rods. This will allow me a No Variation .002" clearance in all main/connecting rod bearings.

Then, after the We Have To Talk summit, I will know where I am setting up the drawing board. I will be sending Sluggo a "template" of the trouble-shooting pages, then we have to get working on the trouble-shooting flow charts, and I will feed diagram links throughout the winter as I get going on this book.

Godspeed. I hear that a lot. Exactly how fast does God drive, I wonder.

If you know what Godspeed is, Colin, go that fast.

It's actually 55mph. California experimented with "The Godspeed Limit" during the 1970's due to the oil crisis. It's a common misconception that Godspeed is actually very fast. 55 Saves Lives and gas too. God is in no hurry to get anywhere, one of the many perks that come with omnipotence.

Have a safe trip Colin.

Colin, you truly have seven-league boots. How many miles this year? How many states?

To wish someone Godspeed means to wish them a successful journey. Not about time, all about the journey.

Godspeed You Black Emperor is an awesome band along the lines of early Pink Floyd. A friend turned us on
to them here in Austin. Find out about them here: http://brainwashed.com/godspeed/main.html

The Godspeed was also one of the three ships of the English East India Company led by Capt. Christopher
Newport on the voyage that resulted in the founding of Jamestown in the new Colony of Virginia in 1607.
Next year is the 400th anniversary of the founding of Jamestown and Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip will
be in the U.S. for this. My FIL used to run the historical site there and in Yorktown, VA.

See Greg, choices man :cherry:

Very true. And thanks. Today's panic here in VA is a nasty rusted fuel line along the differential mount area. . . it is damp. . . with fuel. . . at 36 psi +

You can always set up camp in the driveway here in Syracuse Colin...I clearly have enough projects to keep us busy all year long. Wait till you see the compressor I got....it's ridiculous.

Now the left front tire is losing air. The air chuck was leaking more air out than letting the $0.75 air in. So I pushed it down hard. Bad Move.
It bent the schraeder valve. Didn't know that until 80 miles down the road.
Wandering front end. Pulled over, 12 psi in the front left tire. Added air, tried to pull the valve out with needle nose to stop the leak. Nooooooooo.
Now have RTV Ultra-Black globbed in the valve stem cap cranked right down on that thing. And it is snowing. Fuel damp spot is growing slowly.
So what did I expect? I haven't touched this car underneath since I bought it in 2000. New Truism:
Deferred Maintenance Will Call You To Account.
