Dumb Luck or Divine Intervention?

Post by DjEep » Tue Sep 05, 2006 5:55 pm

Who said nothing good ever came from being a stoner...

Last night I got home and parked Geri in front of my dad's Jeep, across the street from the house. My bus was parked on the same side of the street as the house, which happens to have No Parking on Monday mornings for street cleaning. I planned on going in and getting my key to move the jeep to the driveway so I could park my new bus across the street to avoid a street cleaning ticket. But my pot addled brain forgot to get the key and forgot to move the bus.

Woke up with a start this morning realizing I just made a nice $25 "donation" to the city. Ran outside to check and realized that since today was a holiday, there was no street cleaning. Whew... Went back in and started to go about getting ready to go to Santa Cruz. Next thing I know there is a loud crash and my girlfriend is screaming and telling me to run outside. There, across the street, is my dad's jeep, back end smashed in, front end up on the sidewalk thanks to the curbed wheels, about 10" from hitting Geri Lou. The guy seemed a little off and claimed he was driving straight down the street and that it "just happened." Yeah, deer just happen to run in front of your car, parked Jeeps don't.

Anyways, if I hadn't forgotten to move it, my bus, which I hadn't even owned for 24 hours, would've been parked there and the looser front end and balder tires probably would have resulted in it being slammed into Geri resulting in two busted buses and one severely beaten idiot (my lady was about to throttle him just for getting that close to her Geri, she's not as passive as I am...) Wow. Jeep or bus, that still sucks.

You don't live anywhere near Karl do ya? He's had several vehicles smashed when parked on the street...

I had a Rabbit get hit hard enough to get knocked across the street backwards.
Came home. Reported the car stolen. Found it it had been towed after the hit. I had a ticket for parking more than 12" from the curb, and a tow bill and repair costs!

Jeep damage was just plastic. And I've heard Ins Cos like to devalue buses.
I would have whipped out my E-Bay printouts of Geri lookalikes going for $17k and soaked the bastard.
