Tech Write Ups

Post by chitwnvw » Sun Sep 03, 2006 6:36 pm

I'd like to see a library of tech write ups. You know, I'm rebuilding my Webers, here's the steps plus pics. I'd also like to say, I think we'd be wise to choose the Wikipedia type forum where, others could add or modify, if this is possible. I think it is important that most of the work comes from the membership and not from the moderators. And that the moderators are only in a critical or advisory role.

I'm not threatened by the idea that these write ups get looked at and ok'd by the moderators. Although, I think anything posted would get a thorough going over anyway.

I don't think we need to make distinctions based on "titles" but rather competence of material. I have a grammatical role but having owned a reliable stock Volkswagen, I don't have much of a personal experience with fighting through dual Dellortos, I'd only be too happy to defer to others. Yes, this material must be vetted and open to editing.

I like this idea. A Wiki is easy to set up. And my ts flow project would fit right in there.

Is there a special program for it? I was just gonna do the old manual HTML. I'm willing to do it but if there's something easier that would be great. I'm gonna be doing a whole lot of these.

The software that runs www.wikipedia.org is available free.

I set up a knowledge base at work using it.

Thanks! Checking it out right now. Of course it's PHP based.

I think we'll have to wait for the new server. It says I need PHP 5.0 and my server is running PHP 2.8.0.2

Been awhile since I've messed with it, but I seem to remember on the web server side that upgrading php was really just replacing a .dll or two...
