Electric Beetle anyone?

A number of companies have been outfitting air-cooled VWs for years (eg. EVWest), but now Mother VW has gotten into the game by partnering with German company eClassics.

eClassics will apparently sell an electric Beetle floorpan for only 40,000 Euros to the DIY crowd: https://insideevs.com/news/370521/eclas ... 900-euros/, or just shy of 100,000 Euros for a full-on electric Beetle.

Hmm. So much for the People's Car.

All cars ever started as a plaything for the rich. This is just part of the path. The more electrics, the faster costs go down. But, what about safety requirements? Waived if it is an original car?
