The Dorper Departs

My time as a bus owner is over.
Following a forty year life in Canada, the '74 Dorper camper formerly owned by me, my father in law and someone unknown in Penticton, BC, has departed for a better life in the USA. By the look of the images sent back from its new home, it will have a far better life in Washington State than it had under my care in British Columbia.
Shown here, near Heppner, OR, the Dorper resting on the way home from its only real camping trip - a week long run to the RendezVW. The mottling on the paint aft is a photographic artifact resulting from the full-moon image.
Satchmo and I congratulate each other on a successful re-start following a clutch replacement. Tim TWICE drove five hours each way from Pullman, WA to my home in southeastern BC to help me re-install the motor and start him up for the first time in 30 years.
Enroute to the RendezVW, The Dorper and I are flanked by Deer Hunter, satchmo (Tim) and his wife Mary, along with Colin and the dearly departed Road Warrior.
Near my home in BC.
The new owners sent me this image a week after it left my home. They first sent The Dorper out to a detailing firm where they gave him a jolly good rogering. Despite my previous efforts, he's never looked better. The bumpers are out for re-painting.
At 54K original miles, it is a fine example of the breed. It's just not the vehicle for me at this time in my life.
Godspeed, Dorper. Long may you run.
