random thoughts about starting threads on forums..

I belong to several other forums to satiate the frustrated gearhead in me (thesamba.com, thegsresources.com (for the suzuki motorcycles). bimmerfest.com (awesome board if you own an e39 5 series bmw), thechopperunderground.com (it's on my bucket list to build a hardtail shovelhead some day). On all the other sights I will spend a good 20-30 minutes searching for an answer before I post, and then cringe when I do, because invariably when I do, I get "this has been discussed a million times" or "do a search" etc...not all the time, but many.

On this site, where I have no such fear, I rarely start any new threads because i feel I don't have anything original or interesting to say...guess I better start checking cnn.com and npr.org more often eh? Or better yet, start driving the bus more so i will have stories to share.

Two good prescriptions right there. CNN/BBC/NYT/WP/FauxSnooze/ doesn't matter, goferit, and drive more.
Oh, and test your "unoriginal" and "uninteresting" assumption. We'll be sure to let you know . . .
