Just a promo, but look at the front suspension of the camera car, particularly under braking!
Yep, its a VW Formula Vee engine and chassis, did a good job keeping up!

I love this era of racing for its immediacy . . .

Wow, I was there at that race. Camped in a field right by a notorious curve for three days. It was party central for the young Germans who camped with me and my Army buddies. Very exciting time.
