Published, I Iz!

Post by hambone » Tue Sep 18, 2012 8:44 pm

VW Camper and Bus Magazine (based out of the UK) published an article and photos by your's truly! I am stoked, this is the first time I've ever been in print.
It is a pretty light piece about (go figure) Bus camping in the Northwest. Oh I am so predictable.
Kirk just called me, I guess the publisher forgot to tell me (or pay me). :flower: S'okay I sent a nice email with nice words to the nice people ACROSS TH POND.

Here's the issue, run out and buy it if you want to see NW Bus Pilots in action! I haven't seen the article yet so I have no idea who's bus is featured or what wilderness areas. Hal's and Neal's buses are on the cover though, on a small square - from the High Rock outhouse camp no less.

Picked up a copy at Rich's Cigars & Magazines in downtown Portland today, they still had one after I got mine. Nice article, and the cover photo was nice too .. though I'm biased.

Just went downtown on my bike and picked one up (and almost got killed by a guy opening his car door in front of me). Rich's Cigar Store sells them.
You guys are gonna like it, it's a tribute to the great folks I know in the great NW. I'm not tellin ya who's buses are in it, it's a surprise.
They kept my writing pretty much intact, but Britished it up about 2%.
Lucky Lab sticker on one of the photos! Maybe I can schmooze for a free shirt.
And now I gotta go pull off a rusty master cylinder. Brake fluid...bleah

That is way cool Hammy! Okay, spill it, who's in the story? How many more photos are inside to go along with the article?

It's mainly a tour-guide, nothing you don't already know about the Portland area. There are about a dozen photos, mostly buses.

The article is spread over five pages inside with a bunch of other photos -- you're in it, as is your Bus. So's Deschutestrout & his Bus, the Gypsie rig, another shot of my Bus, the backside of Mrs. Hambone and Hambonette Jr. (they're walking away from the camera) ..

I'll bring it to the Lab next week. Show up early and there'll even be light outside to read by...

I hope you got photos of something with "A BIRD ON IT!"

Congrats on the article. About the only writing of mine I ever see is grocery lists.

This seems to be the best way to buy online:
http://www.mymagstore.com/742288/produc ... --Bus.html

Just Kampers also sells the magazine (with a 20 pound postage fee!)
http://www.justkampers.com/shop/camper- ... 19910.html
(very high shipping though!)

Bus Depot also carries it but doesn't appear to have Sept. yet (at least online):

I usually pick up this magazine at Barnes & Noble. I think I've seen it in half the B&N's I've checked.
Hopefully it's still on the stand the next time I'm in my closest B&N (an hour away).
