then put together a type IV case instead to cure the puttering, sir.

Reminds me of my shop with the peg boards.

He's a T1 man. Don't you know your cases?

That looks cozy. Especially with the rain outside.

Is that garage heated? Nothing better than puttering in a heated garage on a cold and rainy day to fuel the soul.

Enjoy!

I do, but never pass up an opportunity to let folks know that there is another engine option out there.

Just for that, I'm going to come snuggle you in the rain some time.

Heated garages are over-rated; just put on some coveralls, a hat, pair of gloves, and you're good to go. Of course, I've never had a heated garage, so it might be pretty nice!

Hey Ryan ... a salamander heater works quite nice to scare away the worst of the chills out here in the midwest. After 20 years of lusting for one, finally pulled the trigger, and bought a used one off of craigslist... 55,000 btu baby with low miles - came with it's own homemade dolly and kerosene gas can for $75.00.

Sounds like a plan. I'd pursue something serious, but I'm selling this place and am not interested in heating until I find my new home/ garage. I have a showing tomorrow, so maybe this will be the one. It isn't easy selling a house on craigslist, but I'm trying!

Just ordered the "last" parts today! (I've said that before...)

Yesterday I had a great mental debate (relatively) about what color to paint the dipstick handle. After great deliberation, I decided on orange. And orange it is, now sitting snugly in the tube. Romantically even.

I'm amazed at how much I've needed to get at the hardware store: paints, goops, tools geez but at least I'm set.

Hey Repairman, it looks like assembly of type1 and 4 are pretty similar. Only big differences are the top end. I chose the type1 due to the affordability and keeping with my "less is more" mantra. Some day I may delve into the 4 but I gots what I gots for the time being.

Bob.. what happened with your old engine? Did it just get weak or have a catastrophic failure?

Also.. are you going to the bluegrass festival this weekend at the convention center?

The current engine is dying a slow rumbly death at high RPMs, wasn't built well before I bought the bus...I want to do it right, with quality parts that will hopefully last a full service life. I go to too many remote places to have a shoddy contraption!

Man, I'd love to go but I have to work...and Ralph Stanley is playing on Sunday...I'd have to buy a $50 all day pass just to see him at 3, what a drag. He's in his 80s and won't be around much longer. Are you going?
