Hi all. Nice new forum here. I own a 1989 Syncro Westy and really into Vanagons of any kind. Come in, say hi, and show me your pride and joy Vanagon. Although not aircooled, it is one awesome rig. I like to talk about all Vanagons so come aboard and show us what you have.

That is a fine-looking Vanagon.

I had an '89 Vanagon GL with the electric mirrors and cruise control and a/c and rear window washer/wiper. It was a competent car and I like the view out the windshield. Poor thing did a cross-country trek in the blizzard/cold snap of '91 and the heater was helpful even. I have pictures of that trip I'd like to upload. My girlfriend decided to fly home after that trip from L.A to Connecticut.
Sold it at 100,000 miles.

Nice, how do you like those wheels and tires? I am thinking of mounting them up to my 86 syncro GL. What is the difference in cruising RPM and drivablility with a stock 2.1, they look like some pretty big meats for the stock plant.

I like them alot. Always wanted them on past Westies but finally got them for my Syncro. I used to have 195/75r14 and did notice a drop in speed when I went to these bigger 215/75r15. I am a stock 2.1WBX. I am not a drag racer so it was fine for me.

My ride is now ready for some late summer camping. This last weekend I gave my Syncro a nice bath and started cleaning the poptop as it is very oxidized. The PO never cleaned the poptop I guess or at least did some protection covering for it. I used some Protect All Oxidation Remover on the sides and it sure helped. One day I will get the whole top done. For now, I just wanted to get my new Thule basket on top and the Colgan bra on front. She looks nice now. Have to start saving for some more goodies next year. Here are a few new picture links. The 1st is my Syncro all cleaned up with the basket and bra on. The 2nd is the poptop before cleaning. The 3rd is after using Protect All.

I'm jealous of you syncro, it looks very rugged...

I don't like Vanagons. But that is really sweet! If more of em' looked like that, I might be converted.

I think those wheels would beef up my dcab. I feel anemic as is.
