Bus- 28 yrs, owner- 32yrs...

Post by VWBusrepairman » Thu Sep 07, 2006 5:20 pm

well, Happy Birthday to me...I can't believe I've made it to thirty-two years of age. I know some of you may think that isn't very old, but it's not the age- it's the crazy things I've done with my '78 VW Bus in the last 10 years that surprises me. :drunken:

The bus was 28 yrs old in July and just today, rolled over 286,000 miles on the original transmission. Engine was built by me many miles ago- wish I'd have kept track...but I estimate I have 20,000 miles or so on the rebuild (stock heads too- not the modified ones that take into account the valve seat flaw).

Hope to be around many more years and to help as many of you a I possibly can! In keeping this somewhat technical- check your vacuum hoses and I bt you will find some cracks that will explain your sporadic idle! :joker:

Happie Burthday Ryan :flower: That is just for you from me :geek:

I want you to know how much I loved our exchange about John Muir and your care about his legacy. I appreciate your quest for higher education and still loving the VW life. Are you now still with or married to VWGirl. I thought it so touching on the Samba , Colin marring you and all, Don,t want to get personal, but you trashed me so many times about my bad spelling and grammer over there, I just could not ever figure out why you picked on me??? Can we start off on this site with a new and better understanding?

1. No, there was no marriage- I am still single. (I have a bus, what more could I need?) :headbang:
2. I picked on everyone equally for grammatical, spelling errors, Barb- wasn’t singling anyone out. From time to time, someone will point out my errors as well. It was humorous to me and I received a PM or two from contributors who said that it made them laugh to read my silly corrections... :snakeman:
3. Don't take me so seriously...I'm jovial and I enjoy contributing and learning from you all on here.
4. from now on, I'm going to nominate Bottomend as my new person to "pick on". (only for KISS songs, since Gene used a pick)
5. Getting old sucks. I was 21 when my bus came to me... :pale:

You guys rule. Thanks for the responses!
