Kieft and Klok carpet for Westy's

Post by Bleyseng » Thu Mar 19, 2015 11:51 am

I finally got around to installing the replacement carpet I got from the Kieft and Klok guys in theNetherlands I bought there this past August.
So it's not a exact match but not too bad looking at all. Yes, it was finally sunny and spring in Seattle.
It was quite the job as I had to pull some of the cabinets to remove the OEM green carpet.

Bleyseng,
Looks good. Did you buy the front piece as well?

Yes, and the center piece so it all is matching. I think the carpet is better quality than the stock carpet. I have a sisal mat that is always on the front too protect it.

On a camper I don't get the cheap wood flooring it seems like everyone does first thing. Carpeting is so nice on the floor.

I don't have direct experience with the carpeting that came in the later Westy's; but to me, the laminate floor in the early style is nice because you can easily sweep it out and it won't hold moisture. A previous owner had put carpet in ours (over a nice original floor) and I took it out because it would get musty from condensation near the icebox or even on a damp morning. Haven't looked back.
