Saturday: Engine Drop Party in PDX!

Banana bread, mimosas and bacon! :flower:

Got an engine stand, an extra floor jack and an ATV jack. Been pulling parts and wires off to ready the engine for dropping. =D>

10am. Perhaps a little later like 11am or noon?

Who's coming? PM me and I'll send you the address.

To pull the heads and inspect the valves. Cylinder #1 went to 90psi so I just stopped driving her until I can figure it out. AMC heads - I understand the hardware is not the best quality.

Plus I haven't had the engine out in like 3 years and she could use a little TLC. Might as well have easier access.

AND I'm hoping to hire you for a full day!!! I got a new (to me) 1969 Beetle a couple weeks ago so Miss Zora can be my camping, hauling and road trip goddess. The bug (unnamed as of yet) is now my daily driver. It'd be fun to futz with both of them.

That would be a pleasure . . .

(you did . . . . read my long ago qualifier on your query thread regarding Type 4 engine compression?)

I did and it went over my head. If the compression remained constant although lower, I wouldn't be worrying so much. But it went from 125 to 110 to 90 in a short time and only on that cylinder.

Bingo, that is called an acute symptom versus a chronic symptom.
What color is the bug?
