New Old Toy

Post by RussellK » Tue Aug 20, 2013 7:56 am

My Dad passed away a few months ago and while going through the process of sorting his things I found this. It's an altimeter that suction cups to the windshield. From the type printed on it's box I'd guess it's from right around my bus's period. Sure I live in Missouri where a 600 foot hill is considered a mountain but who wouldn't want one of these anyway. My wife can now look over and say okay Steve you're cleared for takeoff.

Cool. I love an altimeter. Silly, I know, but still. I have an inexpensive hand held one.

Yours is cool, but most GPS units have an altimeter function nowadays too.

Yep and they are more accurate too. I used the GPS on my phone to calibrate this old altimeter because how cool does a phone look taped to a windshield.

Many folks still navigate without GPS units.

LOL. And proud of it. Still have never owned a cell phone, either.
