Not a major issue but I just wanted to know if anyone else has experienced a loud groan-type sound when a new fuel pump is started for the first time? It sounded like the dying Giraffe sound from the South Park Movie.....
besides that, it was a nice day underneath the bus dodging gas droplets and sand pies

If this is a Facet style pump, Definitely. If it's a rotary vane pump, yes, but not as much. It will be much louder at first until it primes. after that it's still loud. Just not as loud.

I can hear my Autobone fuel pump over the engine. Just ask Colin- he drove it last Thursday. I want to save for a Bosch pump but they are a bit pricey still.spiffy wrote:good deal, just wanted to verify everything was normal.Sluggo wrote:If this is a Facet style pump, Definitely. I just bought a new Bosch pump from Bus Depot - on sale for $160.
For the first day or two I thought the thing was defective because it was so loud! After a few hours of driving, it quieted down and I can't hear it at all now.
Maybe they need to "wear in" when they're brand new?

I looked into the master brand fuel pumps that seem to be sold under a few different names and can be found locally......checker will honor a competitors coupon for the bosch pumps *if* they have them in stock....so those bus depot and CIP 1 print outs of the price would have worked for me. I decided to support the VW vendors and get the Bosch from CIP1..it was here in two days, free shipping and cost the same as the master pump anwyays ($160 or so)......still that first sound is scary......hooowaahhhVWBusrepairman78 wrote:I can hear my Autobone fuel pump over the engine.
