1,000 miles in Oregon

Post by hambone » Sun Jul 14, 2013 3:11 pm

Just got back, fully loaded Bus over every backroad and interstate you can imagine, 110 Deg. heat, 7100' elevation, and I am honored and touched by her loyalty. At one stretch I had it floored in 1st gear, climbing a gravel pass for a good 1/2 hour.
There are a lot of aggressive drivers out there, I was passed and cursed numerous times, some legit, some ridiculous.
I was also surprised to find the other very remote national forest roads to be in much better condition than the Mount Hood NF. There have been a couple "please start" prayers at remote road ends, with help a long way out...but she always did.
After replacing the shift coupler, downshifting into 2nd has been difficult. I could use some advice on adjustment. Otherwise, I'm ready for the road if anyone wants to go. Siskiyous?

Photos? We need photos! I always find it amazing how many miles you can rack up without ever leaving your home state, if your home state is worth exploring that is! We've done plenty of >500mi trips here in Wisconsin and they haven't even been comprehensive loops.

Yes! I sometimes have to say "thank-you" on some of the ridiculous hills.

Loosen the stop plate adjustment a tad. Engage 2nd with engine off. Loosen the 13mm bolts at the shift housing. Give the stop plate a little tap no more than 1/2mm towards the PASSENGER door. Test drive.

(Thank you Colin, didn't know the adjustment was so sensitive and could be controlled that way. I will do eet.)
Washed off all the filth today but the insides are still packed for camping.
Linney Ck. at the end of July God willing. And Hambone or the "other camp" in Aug.
