I prefer to think of it as an appendage, ThankYouVeryMuch.
For several years I've thought this would be useful on trips to alleviate the stiffness & soreness that develops in my knee & ankle after several hours of driving. I haven't thought it useful enough to drop $150-200 on an aftermarket cruise control kit, but when I found a complete slightly used Dana/Rostra cruise setup at Pick-N-Pull for $30...

Pah! There are lovely vehicles without it.
Why, in my VW Bus, I can cruise for hours with my left foot on the accelerator and my right leg taking a nice stretch break on the passenger seat. It's not like I have to modulate the accelerator or anything - flat road 3/4 - hills/headwinds floored.

Colin, I'd try that but I usually have a *passenger* in the passenger seat on the longer excursions .. one that's very very nervous about my having anything other than my right foot on/near the accelerator. Found that out when I tried using a brick...

Hmmm...I've never tried using a brick on a nervous passenger. I'll have to get a brick and give this a try...

Me too. Passenger means accelerator pedal foot gets a massage.
