I'm not surprised to hear you were smelling brakes on the way down because there are such long runs that only want braking power (or downshifting) to keep speed under control. Happens to all of us.

Get that last bit of adjusting done and then see where it lay.

Wow, Commissioned art...I like the sound of that. We'll chat at the lab...
So it all started when I wanted to get better gas mileage....

By 'doesn't work' do you mean you pull the parking brake handle and it comes out a long way without engaging, or the handle doesn't budge? If it is the former, I'd say you have quite a bit more adjusting to do.

so the handle comes a looong way out, and nothing happens? If that's the case ya got some additional adjustin' to do. :)

If you pull, it doesn't budge and nothing happens, then you've probably got issues with the brake cables.
