Don's New Bus

Post by hambone » Sun May 05, 2013 9:15 pm

Don camps with us a lot in Oregon with his Ford Explorer, but he just got himself a '71 Westfalia to enjoy his retirement.
I tried to warm him.

Hell of a drive back from Tacoma! Don't get me started on Goober Motorsport LLC...rebuilt engine indeed. Rest of the Bus has many lifetimes left in it.

After a full Volks Folks Saturday it is now out of my driveway and down in Oregon City. Good luck Don!
(He signed up here, not sure his monniker....)

I go by Trailbum. If you hang around enough VW people for any length of time, they rub off on you. Apparently I got absorbed into the whole shebang by going on some of their campouts through the years. My vehicle being the only non-vw kind of stands out, but the people were always so friendly and knew how to have a goodtime. So through this past winter I got serious about looking for a bus and ending up on this one up in Puyallup, WA after about 5 months searching. I probably should have waited, but I was tired of the daily looking on Samba and Craigslist and from hints from whoever. These old buses all need help, just like us. So if you see on one of these campouts, I should be blending in a little better now.

Good looking Bus Don. Not only will you blend in now, I bet you'll sleep much more comfy too. Oh and congrats on the retirement! You're getting out of UG at the right time I think. I only hope they make it another ten years so I can do the same. See you at the next campout.

Hey Mike,

I'm behind the Burgerville towards the river from McLoughlin! Sorry, I"m not getting post notifications, so I just saw this. Hambone layed down my bus! I need to get the top finished and then I'll be more "water-proof."

Congrats again, Don!

Hi Tony / PacRat,
I've seen you driving McLoughlin, figured you were in the area.
PacRat, I wish I had come up with that screen name. Would fit me nicely.

Mike,

Not sure if the pm feature is working on this but I'll try to check here more frequently! Let me know when your driving down 99 and we can meet for a beer or coffee etc. I work from home so available most of the time! Funny story about the nickname! I've had it almost 30 years!
