It's almost time for another oil change, and valve adjustment.

Commuting? Do you download your 84 channel data recorder at work each morning?

Hhaha - Mr. Colin, I never figured you for an internet troll. But you nailed it.. i do annoy my co workers with some useless graphs. :)

Are there any interests in an IAC SPECIAL conversion guide? Several guys from theSamba asked me to post a how to. I recon, this forum would be the place to host it.

Sorry I am late. It's a big internet to troll . . .

If you do a conversion guide, would you have a parts list and a photo how-to?
Would you feel that your work could be extrapolated to other models?

I have the parts list, and some/most pictures. The system is easily adapted to any engine with some understanding of the car's electrical system.

Then by all means, do a write-up, send me the text via PM, I'll sign off with grammatical corrections only, and you can slap that sucker up in the Engine Technical Forum WITH a sticky link from Fuel Delivery.

Alright, I removed heater control boxes, and heater elbows... The heater boxes are venting directly out into the open air.... Any issues with that besides having an open hole for critters and spiders to crawl into? I am going to be engineering electrical dash heater... along with the gasoline heater booster... Slightly healthier than OE...

New MPG Report: 21 mpg (87 octane, EGO Control ON, Fuel-Overrun On, mixed city and backroad driving). I am confident I can push this to 25-26 mpg with more conservative driving.

Give us a highway fuel mileage report at your next opportunity - steady 65 let's say. Vanagons are more aerodynamic than bays and get the greater advantage at higher speeds.

I can get 22-23 mpg with an aircooled 2.0 at 55 mph. I can get all of 16mpg at 70mph. :blackeye:

Vanagon's are also geared better for highway cruising speeds, aren't they?

Nope. Air-cooled Vanagons, just like their ancestors, are geared for the cooling capacity/horsepower peak/drag intersection. That means, as ever, an air-cooled Vanagon is limited to 75mph cruise @ 4,100 rpm.

Waterboxer Vanagons have slightly taller gearing.

Mileage report:
This morning I filled up full tank at an I-40 exit. 48.9 miles later, I filled up the tank at the same gas station, and the same pump. It took 2.228 gallons to fill up. Average travel speed was 65mph.

That is 21.94 mpg with the same tune.

I am going to paste some of the graphs shortly.
