P.S. both of the buses are actually Perl White. So there.
Please say some prayers to Nordhoff and Porsche for me.
Anyone wandering around NE Portland tomorrow AM is welcome to stop by.
Pictures? Please?

I have had my engine in and out three times in the past two weeks, my lawdy, this bus and I have now done seven engine drops.

So does that mean you'll be driving that bus soon?

Engine in! Thanks to Don for the help AKA Trailbum.
Thanks to the rest of you for the various bits to make this engine complete. Even used an old o-ring from the Beetle wiper shaft around the throttle cable tube.
Still gotta wire everything up and install the axles, tomorrow maybe I'm tired. The clammy damp is kickin my butt.
No pix yet, I'll get to it eventually. It has been an insane amount of work to stabilize this bus after so many years of neglect, but it's really starting to perk up. I had no idea it would take this long...

It's alive! So far the main seal is dry.
Cranking cranking, no gas...oh great. Gas at fuel pump but not past. Ok bad fuel pump from sitting. Replaced fuel pump, no gas. Oh great. After research I find I have an alternator push rod which isn't long enough. Luckily I just happen to have the generator style pushrod. And that was it. Still makes me nervous when things don't go according to plan.
Once it dries out around here it's time to test that "new" transmission...

Will you have this bus long enough to let me drive it when I get out there to take you and Erin out to pizza so helpmegodyoubetternopoutingthisyearconfirmationnecessarywecouldbedeadforallweknowbynextyear?

Drove it to the gas station today! Trans seems great so far, up to 4th no issues.
Adjusting the shifter was driving me insane so I checked Bentley. They recommend a 90 deg. shifter, with the shifter plate pushed against the right side of the mechanism. Worked perfectly.
The bumper is back on and I can breathe a big sigh of relief.
Old gas makes a carb adjustment ridiculous.

I recommend a coating of CK's tired and true Valvoline Synthetic Molybdenum Disulfide Grease along the rubbing (left?) edge of the lockout plate. [That is, in addition to all the other moving in the shifter mechanism.] With the 90* shifter, there's usually a constant rub/slide. With a lazy left-saggy shifter adjustment, you'll have less chafing, but less shifter accuracy too. Kudos for not being lazy! :salute:

I enjoy seeing the updates on these buses, but I REALLY enjoyed your engine thread from (I think) bus no. 1. So thanks for the inspiration!

Only took him three gallons of Bondo to get the corner looking like that.

I kid, I kid. Looks good, Bob, some damn fine work.

Thanx, yes some bondo but I spent a long time hammering that dent out first.
