Recent cars have rubber bellies all under them, don't they ? Could we fit some under the bus for better heat, less noise, less rust ?
Undercoating the bus takes a day.

Morning: scraper and brush any loose flakes off.
Mid-morning: Wash underside with plenty of high-pressure water.
Midmorning nap: let dry.

Lunchtime: spray all rustyish surfaces with rust-catalyzing primer, get up in all drain holes, compressed air is very helpful for driving it up.
Afterlunch nap: let dry.

Afternoon: three light coats of paintable rubberized undercoating, should take about 8 cans.
Afternoon nap: let dry

Late afternoon: four cans of universal black anypaint on the undercoating.
Beer break.
Then you can go in for dinner, " hey baby, whash for dinner, hic :drunken: "

To Amskeptic, thanks for this ultimate road map, to who wants to undercoat his bus. ( and did not dare to ask ).
Sure, I'll need, more naps and time for sideplays for this job, but I'll sure consider, and read again your good infos.

There's no clamp - this is held in place by a sheet metal screw.
Nevertheless, a great way to seal up the heat is to use the extra-fancy duct tape that is made from thick aluminum foil, with super-sticky adhesive. Professional HVAC duct tape. That stuff weals well, and stays put. Normal duct tape is junk and does not belong near any heat.

If we're talking about the plastic hose in the engine compartment, right side, there should be an oval hose clamp where it meets the tin. The next section of duct down connects to the heat exchanger via machine screw (72-74) or, IIRC, a sheet metal screw (75 and up)

Unless you have a BN6 under there. Your bellypan will add some protection.

I liked the beer break part. On my schedule it would happen much sooner, making it a two day project.

would you decline an IAC visit if this was on the schedule for the day?

the idea that this really could be done in a day makes me want to tackle it. I was crawling all over under the bus yesterday and while it was 99% rust free (looking) the last time I took notice - there's little surface rust area's starting to show up (now that it's getting regular use.) The outside body needs attention first of course, but there's no reason not to have at this project while it's all crappy and raining outside. put it on stands in the garage and just take your time.

I think he would still have to pay French taxes. Maybe he got a Russian passport, but it's not very warm there.
