SlowLane, you still plan on being at The Lucky Lab this coming Monday?
Remember it's the one on SE Hawthorne. 6:30-7ish. I should be there unless something at work pops up. Safe travels.

Dat's the plan. :bounce:

I'm hoping to camp near enough to Portland Sunday night to get into town fairly early, hop on the bike and cruise around absorbing the Portland vibe (maybe also absorb a few brewskis).

I've google-mapped the Hawthorne location. Parking looks to be a bit scarce around there, so I'll try to get there early enough. I'll look for a table full of greasy bearded guys (or will that actually narrow it down at all)?

Looking forward to it. See ya

Parking isn't actually that bad to the north of the Hawthorne spot, it's all commercial/industrial and everything's closed by 6. Might have to walk half a block but no big deal, the blocks are small in this town .. which really screwed me up walking in Berlin a couple years ago where they have REAL blocks. :cyclopsani:

Thanks for the tip. I'm sure I'll find something. Whether I can find the van after leaving the Lab is another matter...

Walking in Manhatten was weird. Their blocks are highly rectangular. Seems you only walk a couple of steps in one direction before you're on the next street.

Can't make it tonight. Caught some summer flu thing going around.

Slow Lane, here's a few of the many places you could go for a bike and beer. Pace yourself and be safe. These are near Lucky Lab.

http://loyallegionpdx.com/taplist/
This place is only two weeks old. I have not been. 99 Oregon beers on tap. If you like IPA. Go for Barley Browns Pallet Jack or Crux Half Hitch.

The Green Dragon----Cascade Brewing Barrel House is across the street.

Apex---The Beer Mongers is across the street.

You could actually walk to these if needed. This should get you a good start.

Get some food in you and fill your belly with Lardo (on Hawthorne)

Ask if they have the Porkstrami. If they do. Get It!

Have fun :drunken:
I might drop by and say hi. Won't stay cause I don't want to get people sick.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I'm parked in front of the Lab right now. Should be able to find my way back here easily enough. Just need to find more longer-term parking and I'll commence my bike tour. See whoever shows up tonight.

I should be along around 6:30, but I might be later getting in. Depends on whether I decide to call up my brother down in Santa Rosa and tear him a new asshole tonight, or if wait until tomorrow... :angryfire:

As a possible inventive, I've brought a couple bottles of lemurian golden lager that I discovered on my way through weed, CA yesterday. The Lab says that they will let me share it was about charging a corkage (cappage?) Fee. :drunken:

SlowLane, it was good to meet you last night, brief as it was. Sorry I had to cut it short and take off early, part of the family situation started coming to a head last night and I had to go try and deal with that...

Good to meet you too, Hal. And Kirk and Justin and Marya and Neal and I'm afraid my capacity for name retention deteriorated after that, so apologies to the rest of you.

My visit to the Lab is one of the highlights of this trip for me. Nice to actually experience a community of VW-heads well, um, communing.
