.. well? Any news on the car's status, Meester Hambone? Been over a week...

Details, details...I have been getting all the bits ready for assembly. All are spotless clean, with seals installed etc. The front signal seal workaround with bike inner tube and screen rubber retainer will work just fine, never mind that it took me the better part of the morning to rig it! $200 signal seals ain't gonna fly.
Also have enough interior panels, although the rearmost are pretty beat. I patched them "good enuff", better than gaping holes etc.
The other day, after Hal Provided Hardware, I went to see Ca$hley, but he had no idea what I was talking about, although previously he told me he had type3 window chrome. So then I went to Trafton, who has 10,000 type 3 doors stacked neatly by the fence. Aw crap, had I known I wouldn't have bothered piecing together this gutted door. Luckily only 1 of the doors had the chrome I needed, with the scraper pretty much intact. $10 and all the fasteners I could carry. He also has a late Squareback, but it's pretty beat. Looks pretty much intact though. I'm sure I'll be back.
Then it was a trip to Halsey for fender beading and felt window channel. No felt though, at $40 I couldn't swing it. I should probably just order the good German stuff from ISPWest, $30 each including shipping.
I think I have most of what I need to get it back together. I am awaiting a call from the shop! And then another nervous drive home.

It's home, and very shiny. Got the front and rear latches working, gas door too. Next is windows, and to figure out the fender beading workaround. And electrical, and rebuilding a door.

Driver's door is all together, new felt channel too. Looks good, works good. Man what a day, it took me all day. Lots of swearing.
Snapped 2 aftermarket window cranks, and 1 old German. WTF indeed. Pot metal? What were they thinking?
And then trying to get old warpy door panels to look 1/2 decent. Oh well, the Endless Pursuit of Perfection will rob you blind, put your great-grandchildren in the poor house. Nut house in this case.
The dingbat painter gave me the remainder of the paint with hardener already mixed in. It is now a blobby jelly, gee thanks a ton. Thanks to unavoidable chips I must now find a color match for touchup.

All the windows have seals on them and ready to install. Thanks Sluggo for the advice! It got a lot easier as I went.
Tomorrow, hopefully the Pit Crew will take care of business.

Oh man thanks guys. Friday was a full-service work day.
Back of the car is together! Including the bumper and all seals. Getting there...

Today, I really need a day off.

Front fenders and beading done! I am running out of things to install. Soon it will be time to get the F.I. working right.
Of course one of the front signal housings has a broken off screw boss. I think I will try RTV and see if it holds, unless someone has a better idear.
I woke up tired, discouraged, and muy bleah today. It was hard going back out there. But it is getting there.

Wouldn't you know that both temp sensors are bad? I replaced TS I and it runs a lot better. Even took a spin around the block. Also found a couple random disconnected ground wires. Now I have to figure out why the turn signals nor the dash lights work. Otherwise, it is getting close.

Looking good. Stay focused. This work is dis/re covery. The issues are not of the car's own making. For example, what did the car think as that first test drive unfolded? "I wish I could tell them that the hood is going to catch the air"??
