Not a good view if we were moving. These smaller VWs need to have their front beams involved if you have a prayer of a hope of surviving any but the most minor of collisions. That pig had a front bumper that lined up with the Squareback's windshield wipers.

More than likely he would have ended up either in your lap or up and over the car taking your head with him.
Chorizo, it's what's for breakfast.

Now at 42,200 miles, she is all attitude. The fresh air fan starts every time like Carrie roused from death, it is with fear that I hear it operate with absolutely no good reason on Earth but that it feels like it.

The heater still responds like an insulted Brooklyn cab driver, "OH, SO ya want heat, buddy? HEH? VW'S DON'T GOT NO HEAT, HAH? HERE, NO HEAT THIS!"

The engine is now adequately smooth enough to wind out safely and has that highway harmonic where all is well at 67 mph, "shall we cross country? Let's go."

I seriously want to tackle the interior and get it done, that Marina blue deserves a nice counterpoint of off-white with grey carpet.

That's cool that you have the blue CA plates on there still. I have ONE old green/white WA plate but it is mucho munched. I think the look of the older plates on these cars is fantastic!

New York plates now. . . Texas pick-ups were heckling me when I came across the country through Texas on the day after Christmas. It was some sort of prejudice against little old balding California hippie in his corny little old VW crawling onto the George W Bush Expressway. But when I put the New York plates on, it changed to tolerance for the New York classic old Volkswagen enthusiast, leaving me alone during my genteel merge onto the highway and more "you come all the way from New York? Cool."
Go figger:

LOL

When I was in Dallas I was perplexed at the number of roads named after dead/corrupt/horrible presidents.

To say nothing of the George Bush airport. Though I'm not sure *which* Bush it's named after.
