Finally got a Type III

Post by jeromeaircooled » Fri Jul 06, 2007 11:55 pm

Took delivery last week on an orange 72 type III. The Fuel injection is in tact. I am very excited about learning this new mysterious creature. I am going nuts trying to get my beetle running but afterwards I will be posting like crazy to try to figure the beast out. Sorry but I am really stoked. I have wanted one of these cars for years. No pics yet b/c the car looks embarassingly bad. Later

Take pics and put 'em up, even if it looks embarassingly bad. It's always good to have "before" pictures, and photo documentation of progress is always neat to watch.

I'm going to hopefully get some picks up tommorow. A $200 parts car is essentially what this is, except it's got a complete engine and FI system, which is what I was looking for.

Congratulations and welcome to the Type III world. Is it really a parts car with complete engine and trans, or is it just a bit discouraging right now?

No I'm not discouraged and it's not really a parts car. Let's just say I will know the car really well when I get it back on the road. This was what I was looking for though. I'm still in type I world right now, but work will begin soon. My goal is to get it running by Christmas.
