Early round boss 40hp heads

Is there anybody out there that has info on the long rocker stud conversion procedure so i can 'update' some nos heads to the short studs or bolts?

Very interesting modification :cyclopsani: . . .

Looks to serve the same purpose as the under-cylinder deflectors. I wonder if the under cylinder deflectors were modified in later engines to allow for more air to pass through the exhaust sides (as seen on lowe right of page)?
