Paige, if the '64 you're looking at doesn't work out, a guy I work with is looking for a good home for his '71 Super Sedan. Same color as the Vandejo. I think he really wants someone to love it and to provide better care than he is capable of. You can read into this that money isn't his top priority. I've seen it and it looks pretty good, but of course could use some cosmetics. Since you're a past customer of Willy, I know you know how to get that done. If you like, I can get more particulars (at least a picture!) and what his asking price is.
He's a good guy and practically had tears in his eyes when he asked me if I knew of anyone that was looking for a bug. He said if he doesn't find a buyer he's going to donate it to a church group that provides cars for young college students. That might make him feel better, but I doubt a random college kid has the love and Colin-educated knowledge that you do for ACVW's.
