Segolene Royal Candidate to the May 2007 Presidential.

Post by twinfalls » Fri Nov 17, 2006 10:06 am

Segolene Royal, a rising French political woman.
In the Socialist Party ( PS ) primary she was elected to run for president in May 2007.
In France; We have ( too ) many parties, primaries are not a requirement; They decided to have PS primaries.

PS is considered a left party, however it is way far from the Communist Party ( PC ) that is down to near nothing.
We have, more left groups.
PS is best explained as "Caviar Left": Wealthy middle class people with some social background and theories. A very mild left, actually.

Watch for Segolene Royal ( No, she is not royalist; That's her family name ).

Interesting article about her here. She was recently featured in the printed version of Time magazine also....

Twin Falls, would you vote for her? Maybe it would be good for French politics?

I had the same curiousity about your choice. A local take is a valuable thing with an intelligent and articulate counterpart.

It will be bitter, because she has badly hurt my engineering school community. ( a personal local story ).

Yes, I'll vote for her. There are, able people behind her in SP.
I bet, she will get elected president in 2007 at the first round.
She is a winner, as long as she doesn't talk much, and let her opposants go mad at her.
I am confident, she knows how to kill them, that way.
Nobody beleives me, in France.
Wait and see.

BTW vwlover77 link, is good. I was afraid of some scary tale about French Socialists.
This US Time article, gives a right up to date view about PS.
I confirm Segolene is definitly "Gauche caviar" ( Left Caviar ). This is her and her close friends in PS.
Could that equate to US Democrats, and Hillary Clinton ?

Might. If Hillary doesn't abandon principles for ambition.
