Wells Fargo 2016

Post by asiab3 » Tue Sep 20, 2016 3:14 pm

For the last seven years or so, Wells Fargo employees across the world have opened accounts without 100% consent from customers.

There is currently an investigatory team in the Senate working on figuring out what is going on. The House hearings started about two weeks ago. Interestingly enough, the Senate investigation team is made up of 22 bipartisan Senators though only TWO of the members of the committee have NOT received money from the Wells Fargo Political Action Committee. One of the two un-Pac'd Senators, Elizabeth Warren, can be observed in her natural habitat: calling out bullshit corporate greed for what it is, here:

For the record, the other Senator is Republican David Vitter, LA. Twenty other members of the Committee on Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs are allegedly in the pocket of Wells Fargo's PAC.

Time to go find a new bank/CU,
Robbie

Republicans:
Ben Sasse, Nebraska 3,500
Bob Corker, Tennessee 2,500
Dean Heller, Nevada 2,500
Jerry Moran, Kansas 9,000
Mark Kirk, Illinois 7,500
Mike Crapo, Idaho 6,000
Patrick J. Toomey, PN 4,500
Richard Shelby, Alabama 4,500
Tim Scott, South Carolina 9,500
Tom Cotton, Arkansas 5,000

Democrats:
Charles Schumer, NY 6,500
Heidi Heitkamp, ND 3,000
Jon Tester, Montana 4,000
Sherrod Brown, Ohio 2,000

EDIT: Still working on cross referencing the lists to find the remaining board members who took money.

Ugh... I've been thinking it's about time as well... Not sure who to go with, I'd love to hear about where you end up.

I need the Wells Fargo money transfer system while I'm on my road trip, so I'll likely keep a bare bones account and go with a Credit Union when I visit my folks in CA next month. Will keep updated.

I can't seem to avoid "crooked" banks. We bray and bleat about crooked Hillary, but do we actually demand that our Congress penalize these banks for malicious theft?

and there is your 'evidence', matey ! Thats why the banksters pay her to come whisper sweet nothings...so that they can re-assured that under her regime, things will be normal for those in the financial skullduggery budiness.

I will take 50% of your comment in good faith. The other 50%, I will ascribe to the toxic story line so prevalent in this country.

One of Hillary Clinton's Goldman Sachs speeches was anonymously released and we did not see any Mitt Romney-esque asides about the little people. What we heard was her pointed request to open up capital access to entrepreneurs, especially women in developing countries. Well, that is not very juicy, is it?

Hillary Clinton is so finely hated that she is excoriated coming or going. Her 64% approval rating as Secretary of State is well-forgotten in the rewriting of history going on by the bitter hateful small-minded opposition.

..fair enough. I dont wish to add to the yelling and noise...which i feel is counter productive to the trajectory of the country...sometimes better just to walk the dog, eat an ice cream and talk to some folks along the way...

I just need to be able to take care of long distance bill pay, short term credit card issues, and paying friends for "favors" from a few states away, all from my phone. Once I'm "home," I'll probably go for a local city credit union. Just got to find one that will give me an auto loan to buy the BobD when the time comes……………

Thanks. I checked them out, that's a great deal, and looks like a good CU. But it only applies to the first $10K, and requires a minimum amount of debit card activity, etc. So it's aimed at attracting local customers, they don't want people to just dump savings there. Which makes sense; 10 year Treasury Bills are only paying 1.6%, and 2 years are paying 0.75%, so they'd be losing money.

SO, Wells Fargo CEO is blaming the underlings for their troubles. Way to accept responsibility.

Yes, many low-level employees quit or were fired for not meeting sales goals. I heard rumors of a class-action lawsuit brewing, from those employees who were let go for not complying with the illegal requests of mid-level-management sent down to them by investor-hungry leaders.

I for one remember getting a phone call in late 2009, urging me to sign up for an additional checking account. Something about "safety, security, relations, and confidence" permitted the phone call, but I was too busy trying to stretch $27 to eat all month to care. "Sure, whatever," said I. Looking back, it was indeed so shifty.
