Single issue activism is a dead end ...

Post by ruckman101 » Fri Apr 10, 2015 11:06 pm

Arguing with regulatory agencies established by corporations citizens clamored should be regulated has brought us to a point in this nation's history where the "robber baron" days of the past are in perspective mere child's play. Currently the legal system has blessed corporate entities with "rights" that trump the rights of mere flesh and blood citizens.

The Community Rights model turns the currently recognized "legal" model on it's head, essentially forcing corporate interests to enter court with no argument other than the current reality that so called corporate "rights" trump those of flesh and blood citizens.

Cheryle and I were introduced to the Community Rights approach, which addresses resolving all the single issues by challenging the systemic system that connects them all by Paul Cienfuegos, who bills himself as a "Workshop Leader, Lecturer, Writer, Bookseller, Engaged Citizen (sic)". Underlying all the single issues, is the true issue, "robber baron 2.0".

Folks who have attended his workshops, or have heard him speak, are frequently inspired to civic action. Dogging Paul brought us to Benton County, Oregon, where citizens crafted an initiative with language approved and collected the signatures to put it on this May's primary election.

You can get a feel for it here, http://ballotpedia.org/Benton_County_%2 ... (May_2015)
I felt ballotpedia summed it up admirably.

These are efforts Cheryle and I support by donating our time, resources and talents at documentation to the effort, interviewing key players, and editing together never short enough shorts they can utilize in their campaign efforts.

You can access our work by going here. https://vimeo.com/channels/communityrightstv We have five new vids up in support of their efforts, and others. I hope you will take the time to watch. If you want to go deep down the rabbit hole, watch this presentation, https://vimeo.com/channels/communityrightstv/61778883. It kind of explains the entire back history of the movement.

Oh, and there are lot's of vids there we have posted with VW content, too. A different channel. We do have funner ones.
