. . . and that is the key to any lasting victory. We did have truth on our side.

. . . we did not have truth on our side in Vietnam, or Iraq, and that is what pisses me off the very deepest about the damage to our young soldiers, to our treasury, to our good name, to this very moment.

(p.s. thank God the gunner missed the power plant at the Wolfsburg plant, huh? He was pissed, was it an itchy nose? but he missed and it gave us Volkswagens by the millions)

The truth was there...it's politics that failed Vietnam. Lesson learned? One will never win nor gain a war by running it from Washington.

This makes no sense. We prosecuted our war effort during WW II from Washington. What are you really saying?

The big difference was that Roosevelt trusted his Generals and allowed them to prosecute the war. Yes, he was hands on and very involved but his top general (and un-appreciated by historians, George Marshall) was exceptionally brilliant and talented. Marshall lead the overall American strategy.

BTW, if it was not for the Marshall plan that help put Europe back together after the conclussion of the European conflict, we all might not be enjoying our VW's. :thumbleft:

The Marshall Plan was a moment of true humanity and reaching out. That put US on the right side of history. We were so clearly and horribly on the wrong side of history or truth in Vietnam or Iraq.
