Eric and Bob would have a field day with this guy

I shot at the sheriff, but he did not even have a gun.
I shot at the sheriff and man what a load of fun

All around ol' frisco town their trying to track me down
Seems like he lost his gun in a domestic beat down.

I shot at the sheriff, but he did not even have a gun.
I shot at the sheriff and man what a load of fun

Seems his wife always hated him, for what, we all know.
Looks like an assault charge, for which he did not have to go.

But i say
I shot at the sheriff but he did not even have a gun
I shot at the sheriff and man what a load of fun

Reflexes got the better of him, and he grabbed a hold of her
looks like she got the last laugh, cause he lost his derringer

But i say
I shot at the sheriff but he did not even have a gun
I shot at the sheriff and man what a load of fun

Apologies to San Francisco, I know they hate the term Frisco

From your link . . ..

"Only within the perverted realm of liberalism can one envision a chief law enforcement officer prohibited by law from carrying a gun."

"Perverted" realm? Honestly? Is that the sort of place you like to visit?
I would not envision a wife abuser being the chief law enforcement officer in the first place.

Now, over in the realm of conservatism might we find a political ideology hell bent on arming everyone to the teeth so that they can then wonder confusedly why there are shootings of law enforcement personnel who gun down all too many unarmed citizens. So far, in 2014, twenty times as many citizens have been mowed down as law enforcement.

Now, which Eric and which Bob are we speaking of?
